In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Oman, Al Jisr Foundation hosted a Green Building Design Competition. The competition provided architects with an opportunity to design a sustainable building for the Sur dialysis center, a project funded by Al Jisr Foundation.

The aim of this constructive competition was to empower our youth. As a community, we will need to involve, empower and support our youth to utilize their skills and potential. Al Jisr Foundation aims to involve the youth in finding solutions for several issues that our society faces. This will help the youth grow with a sense of responsibility towards their community.

Contestants had just over a month to design a sustainable building. Many talented architects took part in designing the building, however, only 1 design was selected. The winner, Mohamed Al Farsi, 26 years old, was provided with an opportunity to take part in the project management committee. The role includes designing, planning and executing the project. Construction is expected to start in September 2018.

Jawaher Al Hashim, 24, won second prize. Sabreen Al Maktoumi, 24, won third prize. This indicates that Omani women are capable of competing in all fields and reach leading positions.
