Al Jisr Foundation has signed an agreement with Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) to grant 3 Cardiovascular Fellowships this year that will qualify the doctors to practice at a consultant level.
“Save Hearts” project will allow the three awarded doctors to specialize in Cardiology with different subspecialty programs. The recipients includes Dr. Tuqa Ibrahim Al Lawati, who will specialize in Pediatric Cardiology at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Al Nasser Mohammed Al Bahlani, who will specialize in internal medicine in cardiology at Canberra Hospital, Australia and Dr. Asim Yousuf Al Balushi, who will pursue his fellowship in Interventional Pediatric Cardiology at Evelina London Children’s Hospital in the UK.
Oman Medical Specialty Board works closely with various health sectors in Oman to ensure the higher standards for postgraduate medical education. “Oman is in great need for qualified doctors who are specialized in the cardiovascular disease. This collaboration with Al Jisr Foundation will have a great impact on improving the healthcare system,” says Dr. Asim Yousuf Al Balushi.
The doctors are expected to start their programs between August and October 2019.
The project is expected to enhance the healthcare system by following international standards and improve the research found on cardiovascular diseases within the Sultanate. “Save Hearts” project with the Foundation’s support towards empowering the community is seen as a contribution towards realizing the National 2040 Oman Vision.
